Drama
The first set of LAMDA exams are fast approaching. A number of children are grabbing the opportunity for some extra practice in their own time. Results are consistently high, so hard work and dedication are important.
Year 3 are exploring an original text all about a group of children accused of cheating. In these pictures, they are improvising short scenes to work out their characters and the back story.
Year 5 are looking at different duologues. Physically and vocally they need to portray children of a similar age but with very different life experiences.
Year 6 are looking at Victorian melodrama. They are exploring the exaggerated performance style, key gestures and the archetypes such as hero and villain.
Year 7 have been exploring valuable rehearsal techniques including creating freeze frames and experimenting with portraying status. This week they have been speaking subtext aloud without the text to hand. They returned to the text to express that subtext facially and vocally. We also took some time to play a festive coronation game devised by Mrs Jenkins.
Year 8 have begun rehearsals for their production of ‘Kipps’ in June. They are rehearsing the scenes in activity time and in music and drama lessons they are working on the big musical numbers. Rehearsals are proving to be full of hilarity!
